Moisture-proof your wet areas

Need waterproofing?

Waterproofing Process

1. Quote & Consultation

The first step is to see what the job will require and to give you a quote. We are happy to meet you on-site.

2. Grinding & First Coat of Waterproofing Membrane

The second step is to grind the surface. We will then apply a primer before cutting the internal and external corner bands. We then silicone all banded areas and apply a waterproofing membrane before allowing the area to dry. It typically takes 4 hours to overnight to dry, depending on the weather and humidity.

3. Second Coat

Step 3 in this process is to apply a second coat of waterproofing membrane. In some cases, a 3rd coat may be required. After applying the second coat, we leave the area to dry over night, before the tiles can be applied.

FAQs

Does tiling always need waterproofing?

In wet areas, waterproofing is required. For other areas, such as an entranceway to a building with no wet areas around, waterproofing would not be required.

Can you waterproof an existing tile?

Unfortunately one is not able to waterproof an existing tile, which is why it is important to have it done before tiling an area.

Do I need to waterproof my shower before tiling?

Yes, you definitely need a waterproofing membrane in your shower if it is going to be tiled.
